Non-invasive diagnostic tools used to identify internal issues and provide targeted medical care.
Ultrasounds and X-rays are safe diagnostic tools that allow us to examine what’s happening inside your pet’s body. Since physical exams and our naked eyes aren’t always enough to determine an accurate diagnosis, these tools are like a window into your pet’s internal health. If you have questions about our diagnostic tools, please contact us at 905-983-9010.
X-rays and ultrasounds allow us to get a better look inside your pet’s body, giving us insight into your pet’s internal system and organs without surgery. We’ll recommend these diagnostic tools if we need a better look at any of the following:
X-rays use a safe amount of radiation that isn’t detrimental to your pet’s health. We give your pet protective gear to absorb any light rays not targeting the area of your furry friend’s body we’re trying to capture. Ultrasounds use sound wave technology that bounces off soft tissue to generate images on a monitor, after they’re received by the transponder. Unless we’re taking a snapshot of your pet’s abdomen or rectum, we usually don’t need your pet to do any preparation before their appointment. They just need to come ready to take their internal pictures! In some cases, we sedate your pet if we find they’re squirming a lot because they need to be as still as possible to ensure we get a good image.
